'Mightier'

The pen is mightier, they used to say
than any sword. The ink of the scholar,
who makes you stop to think or pause to pray,
more sacred than a martyr’s blood; anger
deflected by a wise man’s word. Many
who carry blades tremble at mere goosequills.

Well-chosen words slice sharper than any
two-edged sword. Expose falsehood to the skills
of the learned mind, whose probing searchlight
lays it bare to scrutiny, argument,
debate. Let’s talk together, choose what’s right
calmly. No sense in turning turbulent.

Thugs wield their sticks and stones. They do not care.
Kill writers. Kill thinkers. Then punch the air.
