Woman found dead after five years

Mummified, in a deep slumber,
discovered in her garage,
in her car by a bank-hired contractor.
Neighbors, family, even the postman
believed her a breathing entity,
her account so full of money,
it paid bills for over 48 months.

How does someone go unnoticed
for that long?
Where were her friends?
She must have had at least one.

And yet, people mowed her grass,
dropped off one-way mail,
didn't ask any questions,
until the day the bank was denied money.
Then, somebody cared.

    1. Thanks, Abigail. It was quite a hard story to digest. I ended up having so many questions as I'm sure others did.
